There are approximately 500,000 Canadians living with Alzheimer's disease, 15,000 of whom are Nova Scotians. While there is yet no cure, the marketplace of treatments has grown phenomenally. Each panelist brings a unique research perspective to Alzheimer’s disease and its treatments.
Dr. Weaver is a world renowned developer of novel drugs for the treatment of neurologic disorders. His lab attempts to correlate basic science with clinical science, enabling a “bench top to bedside” philosophy in drug design.
Dr.Cooley is a naturopath doctor researching the effectiveness of complementary and alternative therapies. He is fostering an evidence-based approach towards research and practice in naturopathic medicine.
Dr. Oldani’s research focuses on the sales activities of multinational pharmaceutical companies, and examines the “pharmaceuticalization” of psychiatry.
A Café Scientifique is not a lecture. It’s a place for group discussion and audience involvement is the most important ingredient. This event will be moderated by the founder of the Novel Tech Ethics Team, Françoise Baylis, Professor and Canada Research Chair in Bioethics and Philosophy at Dalhousie University.
Plan to join us.  Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
