Chimera

By Wendy Lill      Wendy Lill

Premiered at Tarragon Theatre Toronto, Ontario from January 2 - February 11, 2007

Wendy Lill is a renowned Canadian playwright and politician. Her plays have been performed across Canada and internationally.

Between 1997 and 2004, Ms. Lill was the Member of Parliament for Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and during that time she was the Critic for Persons with Disabilities for the New Democratic Party. Ms. Lill was part of the Parliament that passed Bill C-6, the Act overseeing human reproductive and related technologies. Her devotion to issues of social justice together with her eagerness to further explore the intersection between science and politics set the foundation for Chimera

Research for this play led her to Dr. Françoise Baylis. “Françoise graciously read the first draft, and was positive, compassionate and consistent in her commitment to building bridges between science and technology and the public sphere.” Ms. Lill also consulted Jason Scott Robert, Jane Roscams and many other bioethicists and scientists who helped her explore further the intersection between science and politics.
