States of Mind: Emerging Issues in Neuroethics (2006-2011)
The States of Mind NET is a platform for expanding and extending our understanding of what belongs in the emerging field of Neuroethics.
Optimization of the Human Brain: A Theatre and Science Project (2008-2009)
The main objective of the project is to develop among the participating youths the competence to recognize, formulate, and take a position regarding the ethical questions which exist in connection with certain possibilities for access to the human brain (e.g., Brain-Machine Interfaces, deep brain stimulation). Scientific approaches are visualized, discussed and – in an imaginative way, theatrically – reflected upon, in order to make the import of these approaches for the field of ethics and politics able to be experienced and appreciated.
Therapeutic Hopes and Ethical Concerns (2005-2009)
This CIHR funded grant will examine gene transfer for glioblastoma and stem cell transplantation for Parkinson's Disease as case studies in the ethics of novel neurological interventions.
Neuroimaging Ethics: From Theory to Practice (2005-2010)
Our group aims to examine ethical issues around brain sciences/disorders through the creation of the first national neuroimaging ethics research team.
Gene Therapy for Neurological Disease (2001-2004)
This project has a double focus: 1) to integrate ethical analysis into every stage of the project, with the intent of offering guidance and developing procedures or guidelines for the ethical conduct of both early research and eventual clinical trials; and 2) to contribute to the reflection and debate within the literature of our own disciplines in ethics by addressing issues raised by the scientific portion of the project.
