Dalhousie University has fully renovated new space at 1234 LeMarchant Street for the Novel Tech Ethics (NTE) Research Team with funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Nova Scotia Reseach and Innovation Trust and the Dalhousie Medical Research Fund. It is equipped with state-of-the-art computer facilities and communication technologies which facilitate research and knowledge translation on campus and beyond.
The aim is two-fold: To facilitate interdisciplinary research collaborations among Dalhousie faculty, research associates, trainees and students with an interest in bioethics research; to foster national and international research collaborations with scholars in bioethics.
In the Intellectual Commons, members of the NTE Research Team come together to work more effectively in a shared research space. There are two components to this research space. The first component is for faculty in each of three Faculties (Medicine, Arts and Social Sciences, and Law). The second component is for research associates, research assistants, and visiting scholars working with core faculty members.
The faculty members’ component of the Intellectual Commons facilitates both established and new interdisciplinary research collaborations in ethics, health law and health policy. As well, the trainees’ and visitors’ component of the Intellectual Commons ensures sustained growth of the NTE Research Team, as well as capacity-building and the fostering of national and international collaborations.
