GRADUATE STUDIES

Applying for a PhD at Novel Tech Ethics

Novel Tech Ethics welcomes applications from those seeking to complete their PhD in Philosophy or Interdisciplinary Studies at Dalhousie University.  Information on applying to each of these faculties can be found by clicking the links below:

Department of Philosophy - Dalhousie University

Department of Interdisciplinary Studies - Dalhousie University

Students seeking their PhD as a member of the Novel Tech Ethics team may also consider the complement of courses offered by the Department of Bioethics which may support either of these degrees.

Novel Tech Ethics offers a rich and collaborative environment for a PhD student to grow and learn from a dedicated team of bioethics researchers with backgrounds in Feminist Ethics, Health Ethics, Research Ethics, Epidemiology, Anthropology, Law, and Sociology. Students pursuing a PhD at Novel Tech Ethics will also benefit from state-of-the-art research facilities and networking opportunities with visiting scholars at social events hosted by Novel Tech Ethics.

Historically, NTE members have had the opportunity to attend events such as the Brain Matters Conference in 2009, talks by Dr. Joseph Fins, Dr. Paul Root Wolpe, Dr. Mark Bernstein, Dr. Roberta Bondar, and other leading thinkers within the realms of bioethics, medicine and neuroscience. NTE's film series events have gained media attention and have become popular venues for discussion for scholars and members of the public alike. These events and others afford our researchers and students the opportunity to interact with the community "outside the ivory tower" on critical, current, and deeply relevant bioethical issues affecting the entire nation.

Interested prospective students may apply by sending their curriculum vitae as well as a short (1-2 page) cover letter describing their interest in acquiring their PhD with Novel Tech Ethics. Applications may be sent by e-mail to nte@dal.ca in PDF or Microsoft Word format, or by regular mail to:
